I bought this version without a base as my first pen plotter machine and I am amazed by all the possibilities it offered me !
I am a designer with no notion of coding, and i was anxious about my abilities to use it, but I was suprised how easy it was to get started !
I higly recommand the Idraw pen plotter, the driver with inkscape is really easy to use and the precision, the speed, are truly good quality for machine drawing !
I now use the pen plotter with my students and we all are fascinating by the endless graphic possibilities it gives us.
Easy to use, easy to get started, easy delivery, and endless possibilities
This plotter is very easy to assemble and get setup and working. The software took some getting used to, and has particular quirks you have to get to know to use the machine effectively. Early on I had a problem with the Z axis getting jammed in the up position if the action was too rapid. Replacing the ball bearings and a little wd40 has fixed this. The assembly of the machine is simple enough and easy to understand and modify.
My biggest complaint, like others have said, is that the cantilever design makes the X axis arm bow slightly lower when the tool head is at the end of the cantilever than when it's close to the base. Putting some folded paper under the front legs of the base roughly solves this. I do I had known the H design was coming to get that instead. I also wish I had purchased the basement at the time I got it but am glad to see its sold as an extra now.
All said though, this is a solid plotter and can be a good workhorse if you take the time to get to know it. I am excited about the flexibility it has as a platform for laser engraving as well as multiple modes and software for control. It's nice that its at a lower price point than other A3 plotters but does not sacrifice quality. I also appreciate the depth of tutorials UUNA TEK has produced to cover pretty much every aspect of operation and maintenance.
This machine is a great tool to get his creation from the virtual world into reality, the possibilities to use a wide variety of pen and different ink on paper too thick for classic printer is amazing.
It’s quite plug and play but you may have to fine tune it for the best results!
I love my A3 plotter: it was easy to setup and get started fast, the plots don't take long, and they result in high quality. I've given several plots to family/friends as gifts and they've loved them! I am looking forward to using it to make Christmas presents for everyone!
My whole experience with this machine has been great! Customer service really good and no problem receiving my package, it even arrived earlier! As far as installation and usage, I've had no problem at all! Instructional videos and youtube instructions are very easy to follow! The machine itself is amazing.
The A3 size it's perfect for what I look for and the quality of the materials are very good. It took me no longer than an hour to build, install and start plotting my art! Highly recommend for new starters in this hobby!
