I am using the iDraw H SE A3. It is simple and consistent and worked right out of the box! Tech support always answered my emails and the unit is a lot of fun. I use it for generative art programmed through Python. The physical button to pause the drawing mid-stream is very useful for my process. A video is attached here. Also a plus, there were no import fees into the USA.
I needed specialized support, because my Mac computer (Mac Studio) did not connect anymore to the plotter. Support department suggested a zoom meeting and I accepted. The meeting took 2 zoom sessions of about 45 minutes and took place, mind you, in the weekend, saturday and sunday, and at 5 o'clock in the afternoon! Thie problem was solved and this is what I call excellent support, because two employees took the time in their weekend to solve my problem! Further I'm satisfied about the build quality of the machine, the high precision and the lack of noise during plotting. OTOH, the software available for the Mac Studio is a bit peculiar, some parts are still in Chinese, and it is hard to figure out how the various plot options work.
I purchased this plotter to explore algorithmic art and I have found it to a workhorse machine so far. Although I was already familiar with CNC devices like 3D printers and CNC routers before purchasing this plotter, I don't think the minimal setup would present an issue for beginners, learning Inkscape itself is more of a challenge :)
I purchased the iDraw H SE A3 model and am referring to it for all comments below.
The homing accuracy and general smoothness of the design is excellent. After 1000+ hours of use I have found no discernible change or looseness to the frame. I have found the self-homing to be perfectly sufficient for producing multicolour/pen drawing.
The magnetic board for mounting the paper is great, makes loading and unloading quick and easy. Some magnets shaped like pawns on a chessboard are a little more ergonomic to work with and work the couple of dollar they cost.
The pen holder is fine but could be improved, the threaded section through which the screw goes could be deeper to encourage the screw to stay straight and true. Overall pen to pen accuracy is fine, although you will need to work out offsets if you change between pen types or brands.
I am still using the Inkscape plugin for all my designs, although I may move to CNC.js on a RasPI in the near future to separate the plotter from my computer. The plugin works fine, if not a little dated and clunky. Inkscape may be a little arcane to learn but it is incredibly powerful given it is free.
Beyond Inkscape, I have also gotten great value out of DrawingBotV3, Paragraphic and both the Processing/P5.js and Python programming languages, these are the tools the will unlock the true potential of your plotter. There are plenty of great communities out there to garner inspiration from.
Pen wise, I have found value in a large multicoloured pack of Staedtler ballpoint pens (432 or 437 even better!) and some cheap alcohol ink markers. Don't feel like you need to spend big on expensive pens, cheap ballpoints can produce incredible works of art in the right hands. A black 0.8 or 1.2mm fibre fine liner is useful for outlining shapes and providing definition.
Overall a great machine that unlocks a world of creative potential, the pleasure it has provided me far outweighs the initial cost already.
I would definitely consider purchasing from uunatek again should I decide to explore a larger platform one day in the future, but for now the A3 feels like the sweet spot in terms of total drawing time and material costs.
The iDraw H SE is an absolute joy to work with, turning the creative process into a truly mesmerizing experience. While there is definitely a learning curve when it comes to dialing in the initial settings, once you familiarize yourself with the workflow, it becomes a breeze to program and draw. There is something incredibly fun and therapeutic about watching the machine meticulously bring your digital designs to life on paper, stroke by stroke. It is a perfect blend of technical precision and artistic satisfaction that makes every project rewarding.
The product is easy to use. By carefully following the manufacturer's instructions, I was able to install the Inkscape plugin easily. Assembling the plotter is straightforward, but precisely adjusting the baseplate can be tricky. I managed to reduce the unevenness to within +/- 0.1 mm by manually bending the baseplate. I found that if the deviation exceeds this limit, the lifespan of the fine liner pens is significantly shortened because their tips wear down more quickly where the baseplate has a "bump". Therefore, it is recommended to level the plate before using it for the first time.
The plotter is user-friendly, and configuring its operating parameters is simple. At high speeds, the lines may become slightly wavy; however, this issue can be easily resolved by reducing the speed. The device provides a good estimate of the plotting time, making it easier to decide if slower plotting is acceptable.
The home function allows for precise positioning of the pen tips, and you can change the pen several times while working on a drawing. It is very helpful that only select layers can be plotted from the Inkscape drawing.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. After carefully setting up the device, one can create highly detailed and precise plots.
This is a great pen plotter for getting into the plotting world. It was fairly easy to setup and runs via Inkscape to print. The plotter is accurate and fits almost any pen there is due to a universal pen clamp. Unfortunately the only issue I had was one of the legs on the plotter was damaged in shipping but not a big deal, plotter is sill fully functional.
is a solid and accessible tool for creative experimentation. My experience using it for generative art, handwriting-style drawings, and custom illustrations has been very positive. The setup with SVG files is straightforward, the machine produces clean, consistent lines. It fits well into a simple digital-to-physical creative workflow. Recommended!
I purchased the iDraw H SE/A3 pen plotter in April 2025 and had it shipped to Europe. Delivery took about one week, and the plotter arrived in a sturdy, well-designed package. The unit was preassembled and ready to use within roughly 15 minutes.
Build quality is very solid and reassuring. The main work surface features a clear grid, and the included magnets are sufficient to hold paper securely in place. Overall, the hardware feels well thought out and robust.
I have been using the plotter with the provided Inkscape extension, so I cannot comment on the Python API. Beyond artistic plotting, I also use it for practical tasks such as labeling envelopes that do not fit into a standard printer, which works smoothly and is very straightforward. The plotter is also precise enough for technical drawings. CAD drawings can be exported as PDFs, imported directly into Inkscape, and plotted without issue, since the geometry is already defined as paths. For optimal text rendering, the embedded PDF fonts should be replaced with single-stroke fonts.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the complete package and can confidently recommend this plotter.
As side notes: the machine does produce noticeable operating noise, so it is not something you would want running during a quiet rest period, and you should allow sufficient vertical clearance for the pen and cable during operation.
I bought this iAuto Pen Plotter Handwriting Machine to help me write thank-you notes and custom letters in bulk, and it has exceeded my expectations. The automatic feeder handles up to ~80 papers and ~30 cards or envelopes at a time, which saves so much time compared to writing everything by hand.
Setup was straightforward, and the machine gives consistently neat, legible results — perfect for professional-looking thank-you letters, invitations, and more. I especially love that it supports common formats like Word, Excel, and SVG, so I can customize messages and fonts easily.
Whether you run a small business or just send a lot of handwritten notes, this machine has been a huge help and well worth the investment!
This machine is very precise, versatile, and user-friendly. As soon as you plug it in, it's ready to make your graphic dreams come true. The assembly screws do require periodic checking, as they tend to loosen in some places due to vibrations, but this only takes a few seconds and doesn't interrupt the satisfying and mesmerizing user experience. It's very versatile and can do many things; the only limit is the artist using it. Shipping arrives very quickly, and our staff will be happy to assist you with everything.
This plotter is just great. I used it mostly with fountains pens to be cost effective and with the tilted head it works perfectly. I tried it with ball pens too and it's flawless, even at high speed ! It is actually so fast my paper gives up before the plotter. I made all the invitation for my wedding with it, and everyone thought it was hand written and drawn by hand! I vectorize my writing I will let you judge for the results.
The fact it can also use a laser head is also incredibly exciting and I sure hope I will be able to test that soon. CMYK pictures are also next on my list. This system is a great investment to dive in the art and not the tech. It will grow with you and your imagination and work is the only limiting factor :)
I run a business that sends creative postal outreach. We scrape data, design A6 cards with graphics, obtain the address of the prospects we want to contact, print the cards, and use the iAuto to write a handwritten message on the back of the card. We then send this off and we average an 8% reply rate. I used to write them by hand, now the machine does everything for me. I heard one creator on YouTube describe it as ‘The Iron Man of pen plotters’ they were right. A possible improvement I would like to see in the future (and I am splitting hairs here) is a better ability of the iAuto to grab glossy envelopes, as maybe 1 in 5 times it seems to struggle for me, but really it’s not even much of a criticism, the whole thing has been great.
I have owned my A3 iDraw plotter for over a year, and it has never malfunctioned. It operates very quickly, with minimal wobble thanks to its metal double-sided mount. I have used it with pens, markers, and brushes, and even for scraping ceramic paint off tiles before firing them. It is a durable, precise, and solid machine.
The metal base plate is a huge time-saver thanks to its magnets and alignment grid.
Additionally, for over a year of use, I haven’t needed to clean or service it at all, despite operating it in a fairly dusty and “cat-filled” environment :)
Means a lot to be protected by a nice company. These are real reviews by the way and the product is the most remarkable product I have ever seen. Outstanding
All received pretty well and easy!
I first used the wrong version of Inkscape which resulted in some bugs in the machine movements.. but once I got the right one, it rolled as hell.
I use this machine to bring my generative art into the real world. Working with real ink, paint and pens give an other dimension to creation that is otherwise limited to screens.
