This guide includes steps to check the status of your iAuto writing machine on a Mac and additional troubleshooting tips if no changes are detected in the USB section.
Step 1 - Open "System Information":
- Click on the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen.
- Select "About This Mac."
- In the window that appears, click on the "System Report" button to open the System Information application.
Step 2 - Locate the USB Section:
- In the System Information window, find and select the "USB" section from the sidebar. This will display all USB devices currently connected to your Mac.
Step 3 - Power On the Writing Machine:
- Ensure that your writing machine is powered on.
Step 4 - Unplug and Replug the Data Cable:
- While the writing machine is on, unplug the data cable connecting it to your Mac, then plug it back in.
- Return to the "USB" section in the System Information window.
- In a normal scenario, you should see the hardware changes reflected here, indicating that the writing machine has been recognized by your Mac.

If No Changes Are Detected:
- Check the Motherboard: It is possible that the USB recognition chip on the motherboard has been damaged due to power feedback from the computer. In this case, the motherboard may need to be replaced.
- Check for M-Series Chips: Verify whether your Mac uses an M-series chip (e.g., M1, M2). If you are using a Windows system on an M-series chip, please note that it does not support M-series chips and only supports x86 systems.
